The
line graph compares the number of parcels delivered by two predominant mail
service providers between 1930 and 2000.
As a general trend, it is observed
that FedEx had fluctuating trends while TNT had a constant positive growth in
delivering the parcels throughout the period. The figure for FedEx was as high
as for TNT in 1986 approximately.
In detail, the packages which were delivered by FedEx
accounted for three times more than TNT did in the first year. The total of
parcels delivered by FedEx grew significantly, from 15,000 in 1920 to about
24,000 in 1940. However, this upward trend was suddenly broken and the total plummeted
dramatically to around 12,000 in 1950. The steady decrease in 1950 continued
and reached the lowest position in 1960 before surging again to about 19,000 in
1980 and declining slowly till the end of the period.
To conclude, in the beginning, FedEx was the most preferred mail provider but in the end, FedEx was replaced by TNT.
