Since the world is inevitably
dominated by capitalist system, it is commonly known that most people tend to
think that people with money have power and can get what they want. As a
result, especially before making an important decision in choosing a right job,
they usually consider how much the amount of money they will obtain. A high salary has been a major factor for applicants so the job offering high income
is far more likely to be chosen. However, there are people who stand for or against
the argument. Some people argue that a
great wage is essential while the others believe that money they will earn is
not necessary aspect in selecting the job. Therefore, in this essay, the
importance of a great salary as a crucial factor in choosing the job will be
discussed.
Actually, there are numerous
aspects that applicants really focus on and those aspects vary greatly,
depending on their perspective. For many applicants, particularly those are
highly educated or skilled, a high salary is the main factor that will be ruminated. This is not because they tend to have more material things, but they need to be appreciated due to having a greater level of understanding
and a better ability to do the job. In addition, making loads of money is
necessary for them in order to reach at least the level of breakeven point
after spending much money and more time to gain knowledge and to enrich
experience.
On the other hand, three of the
most cited determinants can be placed in a little bit more advance position than a high salary in terms of the level of the importance of factors in taking out
the job. First of all, the most
important aspect is the consistency of business activities with the principles of
religion law where they will work for. The job with the high salary will be
absolutely rejected particularly by moslem (member of islamic religion), if the
job is provided by a company that runs a business considered contrary to
Islamic principles.
Second, people always prefer to
have a lower-paying job as long as they love the job and the job can help them
to fulfill their basic needs in life. Hence all of what they do for work will
increase happiness and life satisfication. Otherwise, if they spend every day
at the job that they hate even though the job offers a generous payment, they
will face serious physical and mental health problems.
Third, a chance of enhancing career
which people can excel in their career due to hard work is another determinant which
plays a significant role in taking the job. Sometimes applicants will probably
avoid getting the job which offers a great payment but does not provide
opportunity for improving career in their field in the future. If the employee
candidates keep taking out the job, they will feel extremely stressed,
depressed, and anxious about the future, moreover, if the job is too hard to do
and too much pressure.
In summary, certainly high salary is essential but not
necessary factor in choosing a job. At the most fundamental level, earning the
most money is not considered at all.
Is that true?
